About Samaria Gorge
Samaria Gorge is a national park in Crete, Greece, and one of the longest gorges in Europe. Stretching 16 kilometers through the White Mountains (Lefka Ori), it offers some of the most breathtaking hiking experiences in the world.
The gorge is famous for its dramatic scenery, towering cliffs, and the iconic ‘Iron Gates’ – a narrow passage only 3 meters wide with walls soaring 500 meters high. The trail begins at Omalos plateau and ends at the coastal village of Agia Roumeli, where hikers can relax on the beach before taking a boat to Sfakia.
